Adult Faith Formation

Adult Faith Formation is an experience by which people consciously grow in the life of Christ.  These experiences include, but are not limited to, opportunities for study and discussion, prayer and reflection, fellowship and mutual support.  Adult Faith Formation develops and coordinates informational and educational programs to assist parishioners in deepening their spiritual life.  The following programs will be available during the 2008-2009 school year:

Book Club

The SFA Book Club offers the opportunity to meet new friends as we gather in fellowship while reading and discussing a book whose subject is the faith. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on the rectory porch.  We usually spend 5-6 weeks discussing each book and we take a few weeks off between selections.  Each book selection will be advertised in the parish bulletin and parish website.

On Wednesday, January 7, 2009, the SFA Book Club will begin discussing May I Have This Dance by Joyce Rupp.  The author creates an experience where readers develop insights to help them connect the routine of their lives with a deeper communion in God.  Prayer is described as a dance with the Divine, a joyous and hope-filled experience in which God takes the lead while guiding us through the joys and sorrows of life.  The book club meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on the rectory porch.  We typically spend about 6 weeks discussing each book, and on January 7, we will discuss chapters 1 & 2.  If you would like to join our group or if you have questions, please contact Madelyn O’Hara by calling the rectory (610-272-0402).

For more information, please contact Madelyn O’Hara by calling the rectory (610-272-0402).

DVD Scripture Series

The Great Adventure Bible Timeline Series presented by Jeff Cavins will begin in October.  The timeline series is a 24-week DVD presentation that will be broken down into two main sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament.  The first section, the Old Testament, will be viewed beginning in October, 2008 and ending in May, 2009.  The New Testament will begin in October, 2009.

The timeline series is designed to address many questions that have been asked about the people, places and events of the Bible.  The series will be part DVD presentation and part group discussion.  We will meet on Thursday evenings in the Helen Santangelo Meeting Room  from 7:00-8:30 p.m.  Please contact Madelyn O’Hara by calling the rectory for more information or to register (610-272-0402).
