ALTAR
SERVERS
Altar
Servers assist at the celebration of Mass and other liturgical and
devotional gatherings by carrying the cross and processional candles, and
assisting with the presentation of the bread, wine, and other duties.
Servers are scheduled for occasional weekend liturgies as well as
weddings, funerals, and daily
Mass.
Male and female parishioners grades 4 through high school are
welcome to serve. Altar Server training is offered in September.

CATECHISTS
Catechists
are volunteers who instruct children and adults on the teachings of the
Catholic Faith with age-appropriate materials.

CHOIR AND
CANTORS
Ministers
of music lead the congregation in song, either by singing as a cantor or
in a choir. Cantors lead the congregation during
Mass.
Practices are usually once a week. Musical proficiency is
required, but a person need not be a virtuoso or a professional.

CHURCH
CLEANERS
Cleaners
dust, vacuum, and clean the vestibules, main Church, altar, and
sacristies. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month
following the
8:00 a.m.
Mass until
11:30 a.m.
Any parishioner is welcome.

COLLECTION
COUNTERS
There are
several teams of collection counters who on a rotating schedule count the
collection on Sunday from after the
9:30 a.m.
Mass (
10:30 a.m.
) until approximately
1:00 p.m.

EXTRAORDINARY

Extraordinary
Ministers assist the priest and serve the faith community by distributing
the consecrated bread and/or wine to parishioners during
Mass.
Training is required before becoming an Extraordinary Minister.
You may choose your Mass time.

GUITAR
GROUP
The Guitar
Group accompanies the cantor and choir and leads the congregation in song
once each month during the Vigil Mass.

LECTORS

Ministers
of God’s Word proclaim the two readings before the Gospel as well as the
Intercessions at weekend Masses and on other important occasions.
Lectors prepare for the readings ahead of time and should arrive fifteen
minutes prior to Mass. You may choose your Mass time and commitment
as long as you desire. Anyone from high school age and older who is
fully initiated in the Catholic Church may participate.

MASS
GREETERS
Volunteers
provide a welcoming spirit at weekend liturgies as they welcome
parishioners and visitors to St. Francis of
Assisi
Church
before weekend and holyday Masses. Greeters are asked to arrive
about 20 minutes before the beginning of
Mass.
All parishioners are welcome to join.

ORGANIST
The
organist plays at Mass, weddings, and funerals and accompanies the cantor
or choir.

USHERS
Ministers
of hospitality, also known as Ushers, assist people with special needs and
direct people to seats available in the Church. Their duties also
include the collections, facilitating the communion procession, and
distributing the parish bulletins. Ushers arrive 20 minutes prior to
Mass and remain after Mass to assist with the distribution of the
bulletins.
